On Thursday we had an activity planned in America History, but because of our extended park playdate, it got pushed back to Friday. And then we ran out of time on Friday. Finally, Saturday afternoon we got to make wampum beads. Wampum beads were made and worn/used by the Iroquois tribe. Each color has a significant meaning (ex. white = peace, red = war, purple = most valuable).
We followed a simple recipe to make the dough, formed them into beads, cooked them and then painted them. M/T had a blast!

Recipe for clay/dough:
2 cups of flour
1 cup of salt
2 tablespoons of oil
3/4 - 1 cup of water
Mix flour and salt, then add oil. Slowly add water until dough is the right consistency. Once formed into shapes, bake in an oven at 250 degrees for one hour.
